Arts and Crafts Day at Downey Care Center

This week, A-1 Home Care took time off to go visit the lovely senior residents at Downey Care Center. We loved being able to meet and greet with them, and were happy to have the chance to meet the community members.

Starting from this past session, A-1 Home Care will be hosting half yearly art classes at the Downey Care Center. They will be headed by our Marketing Manager, Jackie Brown. This week, we worked on Valentines Day themed bookmarks. With the feelings of romance and candy in the air, we set out to create personalized book holders with glitter stickers, patterned papers, markers, colored yarn, and lots of friends and fun.

We met so many people! This time, we had a rowdy crowd of about 30 participants. We were so excited so see all of these people! We had a blast getting messy and making art with all of the wonderful elders at the care center.

A-1 Home Care hopes that you can take the time to visit one of our free events in the future! We enjoyed having a great time with the seniors in the community, and look forward to hosting similar events in the future. Check up on our company happenings on our blog, or facebook page!

Feelings of sadness after surgical procedures/ Fullerton In Home Care for Post Surgery

Experiencing anxiety before an operation is often not surprising to patients, but the feelings are not as easily explained after the procedure has been completed. Post-operative depression can be especially bewildering if it comes as a surprise to the patient because it has not been discussed between the doctor and patient.

Symptoms of post-operative depression vary with each person, but common ones include changes in appetite and energy levels, shifts in mood such as apathy or irritability, fatigue, and feelings of hopelessness and despair. The physical symptoms might also be credited to the after-effects of the surgery, which can make the diagnosis of post-surgical depression difficult and confusing.

Defined by the Mayo Clinic as a “medical illness that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest,” depression is already a difficult topic for people to discuss, and many are reluctant to admit to feeling the way they do, thinking they have no reason to be depressed or are just going through a rough time at the moment.

A-1 Home Care can arrange for a compassionate, friendly caregiver to provide emotional assistance in the period after surgery.

We provide care in  Fullerton, Downey, Norwalk, Long Beach, Lakewood, La Mirada, Cerrittos and other cities of Los Angeles County and Orange County.
