Arts and Crafts Day at Downey Care Center

This week, A-1 Home Care took time off to go visit the lovely senior residents at Downey Care Center. We loved being able to meet and greet with them, and were happy to have the chance to meet the community members.

Starting from this past session, A-1 Home Care will be hosting half yearly art classes at the Downey Care Center. They will be headed by our Marketing Manager, Jackie Brown. This week, we worked on Valentines Day themed bookmarks. With the feelings of romance and candy in the air, we set out to create personalized book holders with glitter stickers, patterned papers, markers, colored yarn, and lots of friends and fun.

We met so many people! This time, we had a rowdy crowd of about 30 participants. We were so excited so see all of these people! We had a blast getting messy and making art with all of the wonderful elders at the care center.

A-1 Home Care hopes that you can take the time to visit one of our free events in the future! We enjoyed having a great time with the seniors in the community, and look forward to hosting similar events in the future. Check up on our company happenings on our blog, or facebook page!

Glaucoma Awareness Month/ A-1 Home Care Fullerton

Did you know that January is Glaucoma Awareness Month? As part of our effort to expose our readers to the latest health news, A-1 Home Care will be discussing glaucoma in support of this month.

Glaucoma is an umbrella term for a group of disorders in which the pressure in the eye becomes too great for the health of the optic nerve. Because of this increased pressure, vision becomes severely impeded, increasing in severity, and resulting in reduced vision and even blindness in adult and elder sufferers.

Although there is no "cure" for glaucoma, treatment can be highly effective and may prevent individuals from losing any vision. People who benefit from routine glaucoma screening are those at "high-risk", including people with:
  • African ancestry
  • Family history of glaucoma
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Near-sightedness (myopia)
  • Chronic corticosteroid use
  • History of serious eye injury

A-1 Home Care can arrange for a compassionate, friendly caregiver to provide emotional assistance for elders with glaucoma recieving treatments or  surgery.
We provide care in  Fullerton, Downey, Norwalk, Long Beach, Lakewood, La Mirada, Cerrittos and other cities of Los Angeles County and Orange County.
